Staff applications

An Apply button that opens a private channel, asks your questions one at a time, and lets staff accept or reject with a button.

How it works

A staff application form lands in a review queue and gets accepted with a role granted. Review queue Applicant Moderator app Accept Staff

Pressing the Apply button creates a channel only the applicant and the staff role can see and asks the first question. Every answer (up to 1,000 characters) is saved and the next question follows, so a bot restart or a break resumes at the next unanswered question. Typing cancel stops the application.

The finished application is posted to the review channel with Accept and Reject buttons. Accept gives the accept role if one is set; either decision is sent to the applicant as a DM. The private channel closes about a minute after the last answer.

Setup

/application create name:<name>
Makes a new application form ("Staff", "Builder", ...). As many as you like; each has its own questions, review channel and Apply button.
/application setup [application]
Options: enabled, review_channel, category (where applicant channels are made), staff_role, accept_role, cooldown_days (0-365, default 14).
/application post application:<name>
Posts that application's Apply button in the current channel. Only open applications are offered. Posting again edits the panel in place.
/application question-add text:<question>
As many questions as you like, 250 characters each. /application questions lists them, /application question-remove number:<n> drops one.
Staff Applications page (dashboard)
Community → Staff Applications: the same settings and the question list.
/application delete application:<name> confirm:true
Deletes a form and its posted Apply panel, same as Delete on the dashboard. Past applications stay in /application list.

Reviewing

/application list [status]
Recent applications: waiting for staff, accepted, rejected, or still being written.
One open application per person
Pressing Apply again points to the existing channel.
Cooldown
A rejected or cancelled applicant is told when they may apply again.

Default questions are age and timezone, weekly hours, moderation experience and why they want to join. Replace them with your own; fewer, sharper questions get finished more often.
