Server logs
Deleted and edited messages, voice joins and moves, and members joining and leaving, posted in your log channels.
What is logged
- Messages
- A deleted message with who wrote it, where and what it said. An edited message with the text before and after. A purge as one entry with how many were removed.
- Voice
- A member joining, leaving or moving between voice channels. Mute, deafen and streaming are not logged.
- Members
- A member joining (with how old the account is) and leaving (with when they joined).
Set it up
On the dashboard: Safety → Server Logs. Pick a staff-only channel for each kind, and the channels that should never be logged.
- /serverlogs set type:<kind> channel:<channel>
- Send one kind of log to a channel.
- /serverlogs off type:<kind | everything>
- Stop logging.
- /serverlogs ignore channel:<channel>
- Never log messages from a channel or a whole category. Add remove:True to log it again.
- /serverlogs status
- Where every kind of log goes.
Privacy
Discord only tells bots the id of a deleted message. To show what it said, the bot keeps recent messages in memory for 24 hours, only in servers with a message log, and never writes them to disk. A message older than that, or sent before the bot started, shows as not saved.
Logs are posted at most every few seconds per channel, ten at a time, so a raid or a big purge never floods your log channel.
