Vouchers
Discount codes: percent or fixed amount, usage limits, expiry and applying them to an order.
Creating a code
A voucher is a discount code, not a gift card balance. Each one belongs to the server it was created in.
- /voucher create
- Set the code, an internal title, discount type (percent or fixed amount), the discount value, and max uses.
- /voucher list
- Show every active voucher with its remaining uses.
- /voucher disable
- Turn a code off without deleting it or its usage history.
Expiry and the active toggle
The slash command covers code, title, type, value and max uses. The expiry date and time, and the active/disabled toggle, are set from the Vouchers page of the dashboard. Codes created or edited there appear in Discord immediately - the bot and dashboard read the same records.
Applying a voucher
Vouchers apply at invoice time, not automatically at cart checkout. Staff pass the code to /invoice create through the voucher_code option; the bot validates it, counts the redemption, and renders the invoice with the discount line and reduced total.
One voucher per invoice. There is no stacking two codes on the same order.
Limits that stop abuse
- Max uses
- Defaults to a single use. Set it to the number of redemptions you expect, plus a small margin.
- Expiry
- Even a code meant to run indefinitely should get a renewal date so it does not get forgotten and keep discounting orders months later.
- Disable, don’t delete
- Disabling keeps the usage count and every invoice that referenced the code intact, so a sales report for the promotion still adds up.
