Custom bots

Run every Noxyr feature under your own bot name, avatar and token, hosted by Noxyr.

What a custom bot is

A user's bot token runs on a Noxyr node and comes online as their own branded bot. Your token Noxyr node MyBot Online

A custom bot is Noxyr running under a bot token you own. Members see your name and your avatar, but the code, the settings and the database are Noxyr's - a change you make on the dashboard applies to both bots, and nothing is duplicated.

Noxyr hosts it for you on one of its nodes. Exactly one bot owns each server: where your custom bot is present, Noxyr steps aside and stops answering; where it is not, Noxyr carries on as before. One Discord account gets one custom bot, and you can use that same bot in any number of servers you manage.

What you need

A Top.gg vote
Voting for Noxyr unlocks the setup form for 12 hours. That is the whole price - there is no paid tier.
Your own application
Create one in the Discord Developer Portal. Noxyr's own token is refused, and so is a user token.
Two privileged intents
Server Members Intent and Message Content Intent must be on under Bot → Privileged Gateway Intents. The dashboard checks this before it accepts the token.
Noxyr in the server
Your custom bot runs on Noxyr's settings and database, so Noxyr has to stay in every server it serves.
Administrator
Only people who can open the server on the dashboard can set up a custom bot for it.

Setting it up

  1. Vote for Noxyr on Top.gg, then open Custom Bot on the server dashboard.
  2. In the Developer Portal press New Application and name it whatever the bot should be called. On the Bot tab set the avatar and turn on both privileged intents.
  3. Press Reset Token, copy it once and paste it into the Custom Bot page. It is stored encrypted; only the website and the node that runs your bot can read it.
  4. Pick a host (Automatic picks the fastest node with room) and press Start my bot.
  5. Use the invite link the page gives you. The bot is online in about twenty seconds and registers Noxyr's commands under its own name.

Only the person who pasted the token can replace it later. Other admins of the server can see the bot, but they cannot swap in a different token under your name.

Vote window, grace period and reminders

One vote keeps the custom bot unlocked for 12 hours, which is also how often Top.gg lets you vote. When that window closes, a 74-hour grace period starts: the bot keeps running, but the Custom Bot page locks until you vote again.

A reminder DM arrives 24 hours after your last vote - 12 hours into the grace period - with a countdown to the cut-off. If the grace period also runs out, the bot goes offline and its commands are removed from the server. Nothing is deleted: the token, the settings and every ticket, product and invoice stay exactly where they were, and one vote switches it all back on.

Vote window
12 hours from the vote. Both clocks count down live on the Custom Bot page.
Grace period
74 hours after the window closes. Bot on, dashboard locked.
Reminder DM
Sent once per window, 24 hours after the vote.
Switched off
After the grace period. Vote again and the bot restarts on its own.

If Noxyr is removed from the server

Because the custom bot depends on Noxyr's presence, kicking Noxyr stops the custom bot in that server within a minute or so. The bot DMs whoever removed Noxyr and, if that is a different person, the bot owner too, with an invite link.

Invite Noxyr back and the custom bot starts again by itself. While it is stopped for this reason your vote window is paused rather than spent, as long as no other bot of yours is still running.

Giving your vote window to someone else

The person who votes and the person whose bot it is do not have to be the same account. From the Custom Bot page you can hand your remaining window to another Discord user by their user ID, either all of it or a number of hours.

The time is added on top of whatever they already have, so a transfer never makes them worse off. You keep your grace period, so your own bot does not stop mid-sentence. Both of you get a DM saying what moved.

Only an active window can be transferred - once you are in the grace period there is nothing left to give. Transfers under five minutes are refused.

Troubleshooting

"Discord rejected this token" (gateway code 4004)
The token was reset in the Developer Portal, so the old one is dead. The bot is switched off until you press Reset Token again and paste the new one on the Custom Bot page.
"Discord refused the connection" (gateway code 4013 / 4014)
A privileged intent was turned off after setup. Turn Server Members Intent and Message Content Intent back on, then switch the bot on again from the dashboard.
"Vote on Top.gg first"
Your vote window has run out. Vote, then try again - the page unlocks immediately.
"That bot is already the custom bot for someone else's server"
One application can belong to one owner. Create a new application for yourself.
"You already run …"
One account, one custom bot. Use the existing bot on this server too (the page offers it), or delete it first.
Change Node is greyed out
Every move is a fresh Discord login, so there is a five-minute cooldown between moves.
Status shows "suspended"
Either the vote and grace both ran out, or Noxyr was removed from the server. The status message on the page says which.
