Noxyr plays music in your Discord voice channel from YouTube, YouTube Music, Spotify track links, Apple Music, SoundCloud and direct audio links, controlled from one player card with buttons and dropdowns, and every part of it is free: filters, synced lyrics, personal playlists, autoplay and 24/7 mode included. There is no premium tier, no vote-locked command and no "upgrade to unlock volume". This guide walks through what the player does, how to set it up, and the details that separate it from the music bots you may have used before.
Playing your first song
Join a voice channel and run /play with a song name or a link. A plain name searches YouTube and autocomplete shows the top matches while you type, so you can pick the exact upload before the command even runs. Two short prefixes pick a different source for a search: ytm: for YouTube Music and sc: for SoundCloud. Paste a link instead and the bot works out the source on its own.
- YouTube and YouTube Music: single videos, playlists and mixes. Playlists load whole.
- Spotify: paste a track link and the same song is found and streamed, no Spotify login needed.
- Apple Music and SoundCloud: tracks, albums and playlists load whole.
- Direct links: an
.mp3,.oggor other audio URL plays as-is. Bandcamp, Twitch and Vimeo links work too.
The player card
Instead of spamming "now playing" messages, Noxyr posts one player card and keeps editing it: cover art, title, artist, a progress bar, who requested the track, the current volume and loop mode, and what is up next. The controls live on the card itself:
- ⏮ ⏯ ⏭ ⏹ 🔀: previous, pause or resume, skip, stop and leave, shuffle.
- 🔁 🔉 🔊: cycle loop off → track → queue; volume down and up in steps of ten.
- 🎚: swaps the dropdown to filter presets.
- 📃 and the dropdown: show the queue, or jump straight to any queued track.
On servers set to the V2 layout the card is a Discord Components V2 container with the buttons and menus inside it instead of underneath. The V1 vs V2 guide covers how to switch.
Who gets to press the buttons
Whoever requested the current track, anyone with Manage Server, and anyone holding the DJ role can use every control. If no DJ role is set, everyone in the voice channel counts as a DJ. Everyone else can still press skip: it becomes a vote, and the track skips once enough people in the channel agree. The number of votes needed is a setting, so a small friend server and a 500-person stage channel can behave differently.
Filters, lyrics, playlists, autoplay, 24/7
These are the features most music bots charge for. On Noxyr they are just there:
- Filters: bass boost, nightcore, vaporwave, 8D, karaoke, speed 1.25x, slow 0.85x, pitch up, pitch down, and reset. Pick one from the card or run
/filters. Server admins can switch filters off for members if they get out of hand. - Lyrics:
/lyricsshows the words for the current track, synced to the playback position when a synced version exists. - Playlists:
/playlist savestores the current track and queue under a name. Playlists belong to you, not the server, so/playlist loadworks on every server where Noxyr is. - Autoplay:
/autoplaykeeps playing related tracks when the queue runs dry, so the music never just stops mid-session. - 24/7:
/24-7keeps the bot in the channel around the clock instead of leaving after the idle timeout.
The queue
/queue lists what is coming and also what recently played. /move, /remove and /clearqueue rearrange it, /seek jumps inside the current track, and /loop and /shuffle do what they say. The queue is stored server-side rather than in the bot's memory, which is what makes the next section possible.
Details you notice after a week
- Restarts do not kill the session. If the bot or the audio server restarts, the song picks up where it stopped: same position, same queue, same volume, loop and filters. The resume window is half an hour, after which the session is treated as over.
- YouTube refusing a track is not the end. When YouTube blocks a stream, the same song is looked up on SoundCloud and played from there instead of being skipped.
- Sponsor segments are skipped. Sponsor, intro and outro segments on YouTube videos are jumped over automatically.
- Alone means paused. When the last person leaves the voice channel the bot pauses, and it resumes when someone comes back. After the auto-leave time it disconnects, unless 24/7 is on.
- Your custom bot plays music too. Run Noxyr under your own bot name and avatar and the same player, commands and settings come with it.
Setting it up for your server
Nothing is required beyond inviting the bot, but three settings are worth two minutes. On the dashboard they live under Automation → Music; in Discord they are /music settings.
- DJ role: who controls the player when you do not want everyone in the channel to.
- Request channel: a text channel where every message is treated as
/playand cleaned up afterwards. The request channel guide explains the setup. - Defaults: default volume (0 to 150), autoplay on or off for new sessions, whether members may use filters, the idle time before the bot leaves (1 to 60 minutes) and 24/7.

Common questions
Is it really free, including 24/7 and filters? Yes. Every music feature is included, there is no premium plan and nothing is locked behind a vote.
Does it need a Spotify account? No. Paste a Spotify track link and the song is matched and streamed from another source.
Can two servers play at once? Yes. Each server has its own player and queue.
What happens when the bot restarts mid-song? It resumes at the same position with the same queue, as long as it is back within thirty minutes.
