# Security

Anti-spam and anti-nuke protection, and what each setting actually does.

## Two independent systems

The Security module is a master switch. It is on by default, but nothing acts until you enable anti-spam or anti-nuke individually - so turning the module on never starts moderating your members by surprise.

- **Anti-spam**: Watches message rate, duplicates and mass mentions, then times the member out.
- **Anti-nuke**: Watches destructive admin actions such as mass channel or role deletion.

## Anti-spam settings

- **Max messages / window**: How many messages in how many seconds counts as spam.
- **Duplicate limit**: How many identical messages are allowed.
- **Mention limit**: Mass-mention threshold.
- **Timeout minutes**: How long an offender is muted.
- **Delete messages**: Whether the offending messages are removed.

## Before you rely on it

Set a log channel first. Without one the bot still acts, but you get no record of what it did or why - which makes a false positive very hard to diagnose.

> Note: Administrators and your configured admin roles are exempt from anti-spam.
